‘RAC the vote’

Midterm Position Paper by Joey Racano

Sept. 20th, 2018

1. Climate Change: Climate change is real, it’s happening now and occurring all around us, and accelerating at a break-neck pace. I consider the warming of our planet to be the paramount issue facing us today. Long term solutions won’t matter unless somebody has the fortitude to enact short term action. These include a switch to all-electric cars, trucks, trains, planes and military/construction equipment powered via home and business rooftop solar arrays. If it isn’t sunny where you live, we will send you electricity via our already existing power grid.

2. Military Budget: I have always disagreed with the idea of having to fight two wars simultaneously. All wars are questionable, but fighting two at a time makes you a trouble maker. The United States doesn’t have a military budget per se’; rather we have a runaway military budget. This budget siphons from much needed social, medical and educational programs. I propose cutting the military budget from 700 billion dollars every 6 months to 700 million dollars every 12 months. This can also offset growing storm costs which are sure to continue escalating.

3. Judge Kavanaugh, the two-party system and the Supreme Court of the United States: Lifetime appointments are too weighty to consist of jurists selected by a single President with a political agenda and ideology. Therefore, I propose all judges be chosen on the merits of their actions and opinions from the lower court cases they have presided on. Political activists need not apply.

Recently, the democratic party shunned the candidate of choice by rigging the game against Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2016 democratic primary. This caused a cascading catastrophe, a giant snowball that is still rolling and growing, and goodness knows where we and our republic will be in 20 years.

Like many Americans, I am concerned. Much as the Trump administration is attempting to fire and pardon their way out of coming prison sentences, the democratic party has escaped their 2016 primary malfeasance by virtue of their being nothing more than a ‘club’; yes, the Democratic Party is just a private club and so answerable to no one! A private club that chooses a candidate for public office! This must change, along with ‘Citizens United’, corporate funding of elections, revolving-door politics from private industry to public office and back to private industry lobbyists.

In conclusion, I invite all interested folks to send me your questions if I have missed issues important to you, and I thank you all for your activism. We can save the world!

With much hope for the future,

Election 2016 (System is Broken)

by joey racano

The system is broken
The nuts have awoken
Led by a comb-over out of Hoboken

Call him ‘the Donald’, but he’s not a duck
Now stand by for post election Mack truck

Hillary’s cheating, no way she’s beating
All think back fondly, your freedom is fleeting

Avoid Brownshirt rallies with body count tally’s
Leftist-progressives do not walk down alleys

Shooting black kids, climate doubles
Cops who kill don’t get in trouble

Then there’s Ted Cruz to give you the blues
Meetings held at evangelical zoos

Arizona non starter, elections made harder
It’s time for observers like President Carter

No paper trail when you’ve got electronic
Add executable files as a tonic

Here comes the future, the Children of Men
Don’t learn from the past and it rises again

Super delegates, vanishing ungulates
Corporate takeover agency regulates

Hanging chad, breaking bad
Far right Obama the first black we’ve had

Shooting wolves in Idaho
Drownings at Guantanamo

Surf in feces, de-list species
Trick or treat anthrax in Reeses

Heartless Cheney, dead Scalia
See ya wouldn’t wanna be ya

Foreclosed homes in half the nation
Banks refunded, take vacation

Bernie Sanders, people’s choice
The anti-Trump our only voice

All the rest are nuts or hacks
Clinton paid by Goldman-Sachs

Drop your jocks and grab your socks
I’ll meet you at the ballot box

State of the Union 2015

State of the Union Address 2015
-by Joseph Racano

Thank you.

I thank you very much and now I ask that you please be seated.

2015 and its predecessor were amazing years in history as is well known by all who shared them, not only in our great nation but those having done so in countries abroad as well.

We watched live-wire jetliners vanish without a trace, banksters being rescued and genocidal dogmatics elevated to sainthood. In America, we endured the offhand propensity for poorly trained and rarely prosecuted law enforcement personnel to address racial tensions with the barrel of their service revolvers.

We continue to label people ‘aliens’, though they come from the same planet we do.

Perhaps it would be wise for us to envision what might come next if indeed we were all made to speak the same language. The next step could be to all wear the same shoes, wear the same ties, drive the same cars, and even hold the same opinions. In Paris, proponents of such extreme monoculture recently attempted to silence freedom of expression and diversity with terror tactics. In a sign of our troubled times, authorities then handed instant victory to these terrorists by immediately arresting scores of people afterward who voiced any support for their cause, however misguided their tactics.

Ask yourself, what is the fate for those who choose not to be Charlie Hebdo? A dragonfly-sized drone on the windowsill, eavesdropping on their morning coffee, or maybe a larger one dropping bombs on their wedding reception? It is no longer enough to agree to disagree. We must be willing to defend those with whom we disagree, and do so without fear of being labeled an enemy combatant.

In Guantanamo, a long-held prisoner has written a soon-to-be-released book about his time in that shameful, still open American torture chamber. It has been heavily redacted. One wonders if he will go on a book tour after being tortured in prison, and will his torturer Dick Cheney go to prison after completing his book tour.

With the republicans now firmly in control of the United State Senate, and their democratic counterparts keeping them there by disenfranchising their own voter base, it is unlikely a new world paradigm is on the horizon to replace the new world order.

And without that paradigm, America, along with the rest of the world, can only continue our slide into the abyss of a not-so-brave new world, one without glaciers, fresh air, truth, or freedom.

Thank you and have a good evening!
