Election 2016 Update III

Fear the Bern

(Election 2016 Update III)

Exit polls revealed many democratic voters arrived at their polling places and immediately re-registered republican for 5 years in order to vote against Donald Trump. Such was their fear. Or was it a clever tactic by the right wing Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign, whose answer to the Bernie Sanders ‘yes we can’ insurgency is a hopeless, ‘no we can’t.’ In either case, it didn’t work.

The election and nominations are not yet a foregone conclusion, but the question still remains, ‘is the Donald Trump candidacy a ruse thought out by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and other architects of a New American Century, meant to scare daylights out of democrats driving even progressives toward Hillary Rodham Clinton? If so, it is a ruse that has gotten way out of their control. ‘The Donald’ as it were, probably was all for team ball at the start- until the low IQ of dumbed-down America hoisted him up on their shoulders like Atahualpa. And once you taste the power of the throne, you never go back, even if back means being a reality show billionaire-on-paper.

And wither the idealistic Sanders campaign? Mostly dazed and confused this post-primary election Wednesday morning, as centrist democrats voted their fears and went with Monsanto lawyer, war monger, fracking and bank advocate Hillary Clinton. And don’t forget she brings back the cigar-wielding William Jefferson Clinton, and 30 years of entrenched quasi-right political machinery. Rest easy, America.

As sane people watch on in horror, biblical floods, storms, droughts, tornadoes, sea level rise, fracking-induced earthquakes have their way with the land sea and atmosphere with nary a United States Presidential candidate mentioning the environment as an issue except of course, Bernie Sanders and Green candidate Jill Stein. So the quandary before sane Americans is, what to do; where to go from here?’

That is where I may be of help.

1. Green Party: Stay the course and vote for one of our own qualified and altruistic candidates. Remember, the Greens have a huge advantage- our party is *international and *we don’t take corporate money.

2. Republicans: As ye sow, so shall ye reap. You created Donald Trump, and soon you may be licking his bootstraps in the latest version of 1939 National Socialism and then in hell forever after.

3. Progressive Democrats: Continue to feel the Bern. Full speed ahead and dam the torpedoes. The democrats will never change as long as they know you will still vote for them. Here is your chance to send them a message they will never forget- WRITE IN BERNIE SANDERS. If someone tells you about the ‘sore loser’ laws in some states where write ins won’t be counted, well who cares? It’s better than endorsing the oil-war, big pharma, log-the-last-forest status quo. Tell them to take their super delegates and shove them where the sun don’t shine.

4. Center-right Hillary Democrats: See #2.

State of the Union 2016

– by Joey Racano

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, members of the press, and friends around the world. We all know why I am here, but let me tell you why you are here with me. Because you are a problem solver, rather than a blame thrower, because you thirst not only for knowledge, but for truth, which is in short supply in the world of politics and policy.

The world has never been more volatile, the future more uncertain. But the issues have never been more clear cut and their answers never more handy for those with the courage to reach out for them, and each other. So thank you for reaching out alongside me, for a better world and a better way.

It’s no secret that American pop culture is steeped in the flashy, gimmicky world of entertainment and bling. But we can’tsolve the problem of trillion dollar oil wars and the hurricanes of loss they bring, by raising children on violent video games with names like Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Boom Beach.

Nor can we solve the problem of Syrian refugees by bombing the sovereign nation they are fleeing.

And we can’t solve the problem of terror by tightening borders rather than improving our foreign policy.

Changing the world isn’t going to be easy, but it is going to be necessary.

And such change is even more difficult stemming from the fact that we have been hampered right out of the starting gate by stolen presidential elections, energy policies written by oil companies whose effect on the Gulf of Mexico has been anything but shrimp and who now pour methane by the cubic mile into our very neighborhoods at Porter Ranch.

Air Quality Control Districts have to be sued for siding with fossil fuel polluters.

Porter Ranch is still operating as thousands of families flee their homes in California.

A group of armed terrorists can occupy an Oregon Wildlife Refuge on behalf of a fringe group of ranchers loggers and miners, while peaceful occupy wall street demonstrators were forcibly removed from public parks. This all shows the stranglehold fossil fuel has on the throat of America.

Many will cringe when confronted by just how far it’s gone.

Recently, some 160 people were killed in a terrorist attack at a concert hall in Paris France. Was this simply an astounding coincidence, happening at the same time a string of music concerts was to begin around the world on every continent, all aimed at bringing public attention to the Paris Climate Summit the following week, with Pope Francis himself directing a billion christians to kick the fossil fuel habit?

After all, climate action of this magnitude is surely viewed by the CIA as a threat to the oil economy, and so a threat to the national security of the United States.

With names like Elton John, Bon Jovi and many others, the concerts were to be simulcast for 24 hours from Sydney, Paris, Rio, New York, Bejiing and elsewhere, and yet, because of the timing of the terror attack in Paris, all talk of the climate was supplanted in the news by all things terroristic.

To this day, we have heard little to nothing about the summit, the climate, or the concerts. The news has instead been a steady parade of killings, turbines, carbines and calls for gun control. This is a public relations gambit called ‘transference’, and I believe those fossil fuel industries and their CIA bodyguards played more than a supporting role.

As possibly the world’s only candidate -or even person- who is both a card carrying member of PETA and of the NRA, I know that disarming the public must never be allowed without disarming the military, the police, the CIA, FBI, National Guard, DHS, and the Clive Bundy hole-in-the-wall gang first.

If we maintain our second amendment right, we stand a chance of maintain everything else. Don’t give in to fear, don’t give in to fossil fuel, and don’t give in to false prophets who try to Trump the privacy, freedom and diversity all Americans hold dear.

Thank you for your time, bless you all, and please take a good look at the candidates this time ’round. Something’s Berning and I think it’s something good.

Good night.

State of the Union Address 2015
-by Joseph Racano

Thank you.

I thank you very much and now I ask that you please be seated.

2015 and its predecessor were amazing years in history as is well known by all who shared them, not only in our great nation but those having done so in countries abroad as well.

We watched live-wire jetliners vanish without a trace, banksters being rescued and genocidal dogmatics elevated to sainthood. In America, we endured the offhand propensity for poorly trained and rarely prosecuted law enforcement personnel to address racial tensions with the barrel of their service revolvers.

We continue to label people ‘aliens’, though they come from the same planet we do.

Perhaps it would be wise for us to envision what might come next if indeed we were all made to speak the same language. The next step could be to all wear the same shoes, wear the same ties, drive the same cars, and even hold the same opinions. In Paris, proponents of such extreme monoculture recently attempted to silence freedom of expression and diversity with terror tactics. In a sign of our troubled times, authorities then handed instant victory to these terrorists by immediately arresting scores of people afterward who voiced any support for their cause, however misguided their tactics.

Ask yourself, what is the fate for those who choose not to be Charlie Hebdo? A dragonfly-sized drone on the windowsill, eavesdropping on their morning coffee, or maybe a larger one dropping bombs on their wedding reception? It is no longer enough to agree to disagree. We must be willing to defend those with whom we disagree, and do so without fear of being labeled an enemy combatant.

In Guantanamo, a long-held prisoner has written a soon-to-be-released book about his time in that shameful, still open American torture chamber. It has been heavily redacted. One wonders if he will go on a book tour after being tortured in prison, and will his torturer Dick Cheney go to prison after completing his book tour.

With the republicans now firmly in control of the United State Senate, and their democratic counterparts keeping them there by disenfranchising their own voter base, it is unlikely a new world paradigm is on the horizon to replace the new world order.

And without that paradigm, America, along with the rest of the world, can only continue our slide into the abyss of a not-so-brave new world, one without glaciers, fresh air, truth, or freedom.

Thank you and have a good evening!

Thousands March for Lolita in Miami, Elsewhere

Thousands March on Miami Seaquarium

Thousands Rise for Freedom

‘Freedom, let your sweet bell ring
Orcas haven’t done a thing
Only fools would want to cage
The greatest predator of our age’

joey racano

“Lolita is a southern Orca who was captured 44 years ago in Puget Sound. She is part of an endangered species that is in vital need of naturally reproducing. January 17 is a day when humans will meet near her holding tank to demand that she be returned to her waters where her genes will help the species recover. She is an intelligent, social, family oriented animal who has been calling to her family for decades. It is time to reunite her with her family. It is the kind and humane thing to do.”
-David Georgi, professor emeritus

Marches were also held in Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Colorado and in London, all demanding freedom for orcas and for and end to the slaughter of dolphins at Tajji, Japan.

The Nudibranch Train

The Nudibranch Train

The Nudibranch Train

‘All aboard!’ came the pullman porter’s refrain
so we all climbed aboard on the Nudibranch Train
Sloshing his feet, he slid down the aisle
collected our tickets and left with a smile

And so it began in a warm summer rain
A curious trek on the Nudibranch Train
which took us from somewhere, I won’t be specific
Eventually plunged us into the Pacific

The colors were stellar on every box car
(Nudibranchs wear the couture of a star)
Hues made of blue, lemon-lime, red and mango
Nudibranchs look like a visual tango

Even the rainbows turn green with envy
A kaleidoscope knows that he’s been beaten when he
encounters a Nudibranch riding the currents
Fluorescent with pinstripes, and black light deterrents

As goes the engine, so goes the caboose
They covered the spectrum from pink to chartreuse
One car was striped red and white candy cane
What’s not to like on the Nudibranch Train?

Back at the station, a shark and cetacean
awaited the train with a friendly crustacean
out to console a poor butterflies soul
who used to be Monarch (now Nudibranch’s role)

‘Woodside! Callabassas!’ the Porter did shout
And slow as molassass, the Jellyfish got out
They always paid less, and were loved for chatoyancy
Though sometimes, without them, it helped with the bouyancy

Transporting us wasn’t too hard for these gents
But we lost all our luggage in geotherm vents
Topside, the storm raged in circular motion
But it wasn’t a factor this deep in the ocean

Finally arriving at Marrianna’s Trench
I helped them switch tracks with a barnacled wrench
Cuttlefish cuddled and Octopus cried
while mermaids and conch shells waited outside

Some said hello, some said their farewells
Some twirled antennae, and vibrated shells
Next thing you know we zoomed off again
Another adventure on the Nudibranch Train!

Save the World in Thirty Days

With a whale of an emergency
I come to you with urgency
about a seismic test insurgency
converging on the virgin sea

As giant storms keep forming
we know the Earth is warming
The oil wars keep storming
but they just keep terraforming

Miles below the soil
The oil monkeys toil
Whole oceans they despoil
To quench their thirst for oil

Offshore rigs are fixtures
like global Jack the Rippers
They’re taking seismic pictures
Maxing out the Richters

Save the World in 30 Days:

A-C-T-I-O-N * A-L-E-R-T!

The issue is SEISMIC TESTING, and you know that ‘we’ are the specialists, right? 🙂 LET’S ROCK!

This comes to us by way of our brothers and sisters in OCEANA, who contacted our page and asked us to get this message out.

Recently, the Obama administration decided that if you really wanted to get the President’s attention, you should be able to garner at least 100,000 signatures for your issue. That is our challenge this time folks…

It is a message about such a petition that is streaking toward the needed 100,000 threshold the whales need to keep their ears intact:

With the Atlantic Coast about to get bombarded with seismic air canons that will certainly deafen our best friends under the sea (as well as ruin the ocean-based economy of 7 Atlantic seaboard states), famous TV and movie star *and known ocean warrior* TED DANSEN sends you this message today- we need 100,000 sigs and we have 30 days to gather them. Please please please * sign sign sign * and * share share share!

Here is the original message we got from OCEANA out of Washington DC:

Joey,

I hope all is well. When we chatted a while back you asked if there was a way to help push back against the Atlantic seismic airgun proposal, and now there is, in a big way!

Ted Danson agreed to author a whitehouse.gov petition against seismic testing in the Atlantic:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-seismic-airgun-testing-oil-and-gas-us-east-coast/khpw6LCt

We need 100,000 signatures in 30 days to get a response from the President! Can you send the petition out to the groups who worked with you against PG & E’s airguns in the Pacific and also post to your groups facebook page, twitter etc.? We are using the twitter hashtag: #seismic.

Our new seismic report, video and other materials available here: http://oceana.org/en/news-media/publications/reports/a-deaf-whale-is-a-dead-whale-seismic-airgun-testing-for-oil-and-gas-threatens-marine-life-and-co (key point of the report is that according to the Department of the Interior, 138,500 whales and dolphins could be injured by the proposed eight years of seismic airgun testing in an area twice the size of California!).

We could really use your help on this. Let us know, thanks!

Best,

NO SWEAT MATT- like I said on the phone, we are WAY on it.

OK folks, with lot’s coming up on our agenda (second annual THANK YOU WHALES event in Avila, California, and TOMOL (really awesome Native CHUMASH event, shirts, buttons, some hot issues from Latin American ocean activists, and Navy HSTT SONAR, we ‘gots’ work to do- together.
