Fear the Bern

(Election 2016 Update III)

Exit polls revealed many democratic voters arrived at their polling places and immediately re-registered republican for 5 years in order to vote against Donald Trump. Such was their fear. Or was it a clever tactic by the right wing Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign, whose answer to the Bernie Sanders ‘yes we can’ insurgency is a hopeless, ‘no we can’t.’ In either case, it didn’t work.

The election and nominations are not yet a foregone conclusion, but the question still remains, ‘is the Donald Trump candidacy a ruse thought out by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and other architects of a New American Century, meant to scare daylights out of democrats driving even progressives toward Hillary Rodham Clinton? If so, it is a ruse that has gotten way out of their control. ‘The Donald’ as it were, probably was all for team ball at the start- until the low IQ of dumbed-down America hoisted him up on their shoulders like Atahualpa. And once you taste the power of the throne, you never go back, even if back means being a reality show billionaire-on-paper.

And wither the idealistic Sanders campaign? Mostly dazed and confused this post-primary election Wednesday morning, as centrist democrats voted their fears and went with Monsanto lawyer, war monger, fracking and bank advocate Hillary Clinton. And don’t forget she brings back the cigar-wielding William Jefferson Clinton, and 30 years of entrenched quasi-right political machinery. Rest easy, America.

As sane people watch on in horror, biblical floods, storms, droughts, tornadoes, sea level rise, fracking-induced earthquakes have their way with the land sea and atmosphere with nary a United States Presidential candidate mentioning the environment as an issue except of course, Bernie Sanders and Green candidate Jill Stein. So the quandary before sane Americans is, what to do; where to go from here?’

That is where I may be of help.

1. Green Party: Stay the course and vote for one of our own qualified and altruistic candidates. Remember, the Greens have a huge advantage- our party is *international and *we don’t take corporate money.

2. Republicans: As ye sow, so shall ye reap. You created Donald Trump, and soon you may be licking his bootstraps in the latest version of 1939 National Socialism and then in hell forever after.

3. Progressive Democrats: Continue to feel the Bern. Full speed ahead and dam the torpedoes. The democrats will never change as long as they know you will still vote for them. Here is your chance to send them a message they will never forget- WRITE IN BERNIE SANDERS. If someone tells you about the ‘sore loser’ laws in some states where write ins won’t be counted, well who cares? It’s better than endorsing the oil-war, big pharma, log-the-last-forest status quo. Tell them to take their super delegates and shove them where the sun don’t shine.

4. Center-right Hillary Democrats: See #2.

Medicine Ball (for Planet 813b)

Medicine Ball

Part I

An alien race was guarding this sector
Regarding all planets with life as a nectar
Rare in the Universe, as rare as could get
So they came charged with detecting a threat

The mother ship melted her way through the clouds
All aboard anxious to see through the shrouds
And there in the open as plain as could be
A giant stood snarling as tall as a tree

The alien crew knew all was sublime
The wonder of life was evolving just fine
With reptiles in charge there was reason to hope
All of the planets life systems would cope

They popped the champagne and they floated around
Ice cap to ice cap such life did abound
Up came the sun and around went the moon
All were lamenting of leaving too soon

But protocol dictated what should be done
The captain gave orders to sling shot the sun
Soon far behind them was 813b
Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot was all they could see

Part II

Never again did they give it a thought
Until HQ called them, their voices distraught
‘You told us that all was ok in that sector
Now we find 813b has a vector’

‘Turn in your data- return to main base
Your mission’s a failure, your crew a disgrace
Or choose to go back and find out what went wrong
Find what’s destroying that planetoid’s song’

‘Aye’ came the answer, ‘Lee Helmsman, all full!
Pitch left at the Pleiades, we’ll use them for pull
We have to find out what the vector’s about
Watch out for that asteroid, come about, come about!’

The captain turned on the big overhead screen
Past light cones allowing the past to be seen
Zoom it in with a will, if you will Quartermaster-
Let’s have a good look at this planet’s disaster’

And there on the screen came the scene sans the screams
Dinosaurs perishing ‘neath meteor streams
Nemesis Comet came streaking from heaven
Countdown to extinction came ten, nine eight seven…

The captain called back to now distant Main Base
‘Sir, there’s dead dinos all over the place
A one-in-a-trillion big comet came down
Allowing the mammals from holes in the ground

The rodents took over and soon changed their form
Learned to make fire, began terraform
Then came the cities and wars after that
They found without wars all their markets went flat’

Base answered ‘Yes captain, that would explain
Mountains torn down and the acid in rain
Return now to Headquarters, your job is through
There’s just one more thing that we want you to do…’

And off cross the cosmos the captain did streak
By sidestepping wormholes it took just a week
They left behind medicine for 813b
Another huge comet shot into the sea

Fish Head Stew

Everybody cry for the stripper of the sea
Feeling so entitled to his fishing industry
Now he has to find another way to stay afloat
Rightful owner started fishing underneath his boat

How did all the codfish ever just belong to you?
Stripping bare the ocean isn’t very nice to do
Now the rightful owners come to make you pay your due
Please enjoy the fish heads, maybe you can make a stew!

Everybody cry for the fishing nets and gear
Whales are bending hooks and it’s increasing every year
50 tonnes of whale and they’re coming here to teach
Notice all the sea lions up starving on the beach

Everybody cry for the empty-handed kid
Fishing out the oceans leaving jellyfish and squid
You can make a chowder from the bait that’s in your pail
School is now in session and your teacher is a whale!

Go Sea Shepherd!

Go Sea Shepherd!

Another Summer beach season comes and goes
Good folks digging in the sand with toes
Clouds lined up like cookies in the sky
Kids at the shore keep a watchful eye

Thar she blows!- comes the jubilant shout
as another mamma Humpback blows her spout
They’re just in time for the yearly jubilation
Thank You Whales, and the whole Whale Nation!

You saved us once and we took your advice
We promise that you’ll never have to save us twice
From the Shepherds of the Sea to the Greens of Peace:
‘Let the ecosystems heal and the Seals increase!’

When Kids just Went Sailing

The world is exploding, our systems eroding
The warning signs say that it’s time to go boating
Follow the children and ask if it fits them
to allow us on board the new dawn they bring with them

And as we pass garbage, huge islands of plastic
we’ll do transmutation, make something fantastic!
Put holes in a cocoanut, make it a whale call
Blow through it toward the horizon ’till nightfall

Awake in the morning surrounded by whales
Lifting their flukes to protect us from gales
Each smiling broadly, baleen ten feet wide
Making shrimp scampi from krill, side to side

After the storm, our eyes made out the form
of millions of whales, could this be the new norm?
In whale pod formation, the largest cetacean
signaled with flukes to go back to our nation

With pinpoint precision, a pod of ten million
left the pavilion in a splash of vermillion
Set on a course headed for the horizon
right underneath where a blue moon was rising

Humpbacks breached left and Fin whales breached right
Gray whales were darker, Belugas were white
Orcas went down as the Blue Whales arose
I sat on the bow and they rubbed on my toes

They left us ashore on a still-rising island
I jumped off the arc and the lead whale was smiling
Knee deep in surf, I admired the place
Mango trees, bumble bees, lots of great space

and so on and so on and so on it goes
the story of children with whale petting toes
who ended the old ways of sonar and whaling
ended forever when kids just went sailing!

World in Peril, World of Hope

3rd Annual Thank You Whales

3rd Annual Thank You Whales

World in Peril, World of Hope

A World in peril, great in scope
But all’s not lost if we have hope
Our very skies and endless seas
Face man-made realities

Who brought the idea with them
of predation on our life support system
What a way to make a living
Take take take and never giving

Children won’t learn much from whales
languishing in cement jails
Money spent on their ‘protection’
steers them in the wrong direction

Nations rise and nations fall
Depending on who heeds the call
Shoguns wise allowed no logging
Make a mudslide, get a flogging

The most important thing we do
is teach those who come after you
Give them knowledge, not BS
For they will have to clean our mess

jr

Mark your calender folks! August 16th, 2014 is the date of this years 3rd Annual Thank You Whales celebration, held at the Avila Community Center in Avila Beach, California. Each year, Thank You Whales commemorates the amazing events at Avila Beach, when whales swam into the harbor in pre-hunting numbers- right up to the gates of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. The owners of the Power Plant, Pacific Gas and Electric (recently indicted):

http://articles.latimes.com/2014/apr/01/local/la-me-pipeline-charges-20140402

…were about to begin bombarding the waters off the Central Coast of California with 69,000 sound blasts from air canons louder than an atomic bomb. This seismic testing would have virtually wiped out individuals and pods of many species who frequent the area, including Humpbacks and Great Blue Whales and a species of Harbor Porpoise endemic only to the area. The whales saved the day.

Please join us this year! There will be many whale dignitaries and authors, music, food and keynote speech by Captain Paul Watson, a worldwide hero fresh off a global victory against the Antarctic whale-poaching operation by the Japanese, recently stopped by the International Whale Commission. See Paul’s interview with Bill Maher:

http://ecowatch.com/2014/04/08/sea-shepherd-bill-maher/

Special thanks to the OOG ladies making this years event happen, teaching kids about whales in their classrooms and rewarding the class who provides this years winning art for our T shirts with a pizza party!

Noon-4:00 Saturday, August 16th, Avila Community Center, California.

Then attend our Sunset spiritual prayer on Old Port Beach at fire pit, led by Fred Collins, Tribal Administrator, Northern Chumash Tribal Council, with ‘Sunset Blessings’ and Brother Michael J. Phillips, Benedictine Monk, with ‘Flower ceremony’

Optional daytime activities include: *Morning and on-going Beach Cleanup, *Mermaid Contest, *Whale and Sea-oriented Sand Sculptures!

Hold, King Neptune

Monday, August 26th, 2013
Hold, King Neptune

Hold, King Neptune

Hold, King Neptune
Great King Neptune, stay thy sword
Smite us not, thou briny lord
Give us but a cause to fear
Fair warning that the end draws near

Blue Poseidon hold thy Trident
There’s no call to be so strident
Long the years have passed since when
Your maelstrom was unleashed on men

Not all people share the blame
for Turtles in the Gulf aflame
Many know as well as you
Of Fukushima’s toxic brew

Father Ocean, please be kind
some were young when stricken blind
Born with no love in their hearts
evolving slow, in fits and starts

Not all men deserve your wrath
Reverent always of your bath
Lash your swells both taut and deep
Reserve Hell’s judgement lest good men weep

The Nudibranch Train

The Nudibranch Train

The Nudibranch Train

‘All aboard!’ came the pullman porter’s refrain
so we all climbed aboard on the Nudibranch Train
Sloshing his feet, he slid down the aisle
collected our tickets and left with a smile

And so it began in a warm summer rain
A curious trek on the Nudibranch Train
which took us from somewhere, I won’t be specific
Eventually plunged us into the Pacific

The colors were stellar on every box car
(Nudibranchs wear the couture of a star)
Hues made of blue, lemon-lime, red and mango
Nudibranchs look like a visual tango

Even the rainbows turn green with envy
A kaleidoscope knows that he’s been beaten when he
encounters a Nudibranch riding the currents
Fluorescent with pinstripes, and black light deterrents

As goes the engine, so goes the caboose
They covered the spectrum from pink to chartreuse
One car was striped red and white candy cane
What’s not to like on the Nudibranch Train?

Back at the station, a shark and cetacean
awaited the train with a friendly crustacean
out to console a poor butterflies soul
who used to be Monarch (now Nudibranch’s role)

‘Woodside! Callabassas!’ the Porter did shout
And slow as molassass, the Jellyfish got out
They always paid less, and were loved for chatoyancy
Though sometimes, without them, it helped with the bouyancy

Transporting us wasn’t too hard for these gents
But we lost all our luggage in geotherm vents
Topside, the storm raged in circular motion
But it wasn’t a factor this deep in the ocean

Finally arriving at Marrianna’s Trench
I helped them switch tracks with a barnacled wrench
Cuttlefish cuddled and Octopus cried
while mermaids and conch shells waited outside

Some said hello, some said their farewells
Some twirled antennae, and vibrated shells
Next thing you know we zoomed off again
Another adventure on the Nudibranch Train!

Air Force Oil

AIR FORCE OIL

Up in the air, forcing the oil
Blacken the sky, oceans a-boil
Such neat commercials, shiny as foil
Sending our boys to die on foreign soil

The Persian Gulf, Prince William Sound
the new Gulf of Mexico, on Bligh Reef, aground
Deep water Horizon, dead turtles abound
Let’s destroy Vandenburg this time around

Big oil, SONAR and seismic dissenters
‘BP’ stands only for Blowout Preventers
Build a new base with ten tons of cementers
Emergency room, step aside as one enters

Big oil Obama said yes to BP
a mere 20 days before they wrecked the sea
War, warming and asthma kill thousands each week
But we’re drilling for more Texas Tea as we speak

And now that the settings are all put in place
The forces of evil get right in your face
They used to fly under the radar, but now
They’re flying the flag ‘Air Force Oil’ on their bow

You may have heard that the stretch of pristine ocean along the coast of Vandenburg Air Force Base was recently designated a ‘No-Take State Marine Reserve’ under the Marine Life Protection Act. That was a great day! I was there, when a Navy puke tried to shout down the California Fish and Game Commission. The dude said to the Commissioners they ‘didn’t understand the needs and ways of the military, in their quest for security’. Boy, was Commissioner Rodgers pissed off, as he stood up tall and explained that he had seen combat in 4 different war theaters! It was a great moment in California coastal history.

Well, it seems now we all know who is behind big oil, seismics, sonar, and is the oil companies #1 customer.

The California coast is not for sale and is off limits to seismic testing and oil drilling. That’s what we say!

Here’s a story, too hard to even believe….

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-0720-vandenberg-oil-20130720,0,4715107.story

I suggest everybody go to the comments section and let the Air Force have a piece of your mind!
